This nigga looking like love, no doubt sophisticated thug keep me guessing…

Cris

“So tell me all about X, and how the hell you guys started talking again. The last I heard, you weren’t talking to that man ever again, because you ‘didn’t have time for games’,” Kee said, doing air quotes around her words. I could feel myself start blushing and the smile on my face was out of this world. We were sitting in SoCo Restaurant on Myrtle and Emerson for brunch. I had been dying for their red velvet waffles and buttermilk fried chicken for weeks now.

“Well, I really didn’t have any intentions of talking to him again, but he was relentless in getting me to speak to him again. Every morning that I was at the gym, he made sure to be there and regardless of how much I ignored him, he made it his business to talk to me and follow me around. Not to mention, he called me and texted me every morning and afternoon.” I stopped talking when the waitress came over to take our order. After she had taken our orders and walked off, I continued.

“I ignored him for as long as I could… a whole three days. But by the fourth day, I had to talk to him,” I said, laughing. I had really been broken down after the first day, but there was no way I would tell Kee that. “And honestly, talking to him has been a breath of fresh air. I haven’t dealt with anyone in about a year and a half. I get lonely too,” I said, singing TLC’s lyrics. Kee started laughing.

“I know you do! As long as he gonna make you happy and not bring no bullshit your way… Speaking of which; who was the female that answered his phone?” I knew it was coming. Kee didn’t let shit slide past her!

“Honestly Kee, I only know what he tells me. And from what he says, it was his sister and I’m going to believe him. There hasn’t been one time that I’ve spent time with him and his phone was ringing off the hook. I don’t get the feeling that I need to be cautious or keep my guards up either. I’m just praying that I’m not walking into something that God didn’t intend for me, because I’m in such a rush to not be alone.” I had really been debating with this in my mind for the past few days. I knew what it was like to be in the middle of something that wasn’t meant for me. Hell, I still had the bruises on my back to prove it.

“You aren’t going to do that to yourself, Cris…” Kee started, just as the waitress came walking up with our food. She placed my red velvet waffles and chicken down in front of me, and Kee’s lobster, shrimp, and grits before leaving. I already wanted to stick my fork in her plate; it looked so good and had me regretting what I had gotten already.
